She told herself the faint tingle was her imagination, just as the hot dreams she’d been having the past few nights had been nothing more than memories of her girlish rescue fantasies with the temperature turned up by her adult experiences. She traced the raised lettering. A version of Red Riding Hood with the wolf as both sinner and seducer and the woodsman as the hero who saves the girl and takes her away from her old life to a new, better one. Seeing the book, touching it made her mother feel closer than she had in years. Even if it turned out to be just a copy, it was worth whatever she had paid.

She wanted to shut that pain,in the deepset part of her heart and lock then in a box. If a person was to appear and ask her if she was weak she wouldn’t hesitate to respond. By each passing day, she was growing weaker and weaker and she knew there was nothing to be done which would make her strong. Rising from the place she was sitting on, she raomed around the place she had landed, with nowhere to go. The hills she had dreamt of were not where they were. There were no black roses, nor trees nor an ocean which she could have ran to and swam to her heart content. She tried to bring her dragon out so that she would continue to fly, but she couldn’t.

Upon picking up the book of “The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt,” she felt a vibration—it was almost electric. The book seemed to quiver at her touch, or so she thought. She immediately put it down, afraid to touch it. Her heart was beating so fast. After some minutes of staring at the book, she took a deep breath and touched the said book again. It did not shake this time, so she thought she might just have an illusion on that feeling. Hence, she started reading where their class left off.
