ZAYN'S POV As I led my pack through the thick morning mist, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement coursing through my veins. It was the perfect cover for our mission, the perfect cloak to hide our movements from Adrian's guards. The mist was thick and white, swirling around us like a living, breathing thing. Tiny droplets of water clung to my skin, making it slick and shiny. I could hear the soft pattering of raindrops on the leaves and the distant chirping of birds. It was as if the world had been wrapped in a blanket, muffling all sounds and leaving us in a cocoon of silence.

The atmosphere grows more sinister as Gemini and her comrades journey more into the Hidden Realm. The vivid scenery gradually gives way to a dense, stifling mist, indicating the start of their first significant test—the Path of Shadows. They find themselves at the entrance to a labyrinth whose tall, twisted walls seem to be alive, changing with a sinister force that warps reality.

“That would just be the same as lying, Mizu. You may not tell me the truth, but you know something but you want to hide it.” We both looked up and gazed at the dark sky. There were no stars at all, not even the moon that would've lightened up the sky. I looked at Mizu. His eyebrows were deeply furrowed on his forehead as if there was something in his mind that he couldn't sort out. We both fell into our own deep thoughts about the thing we were talking about.

Nori held my hand and reassured me, "He's not as invincible as you think, Master! I found his weakness!" My body stopped shivering. "Really, Nori?" I enthusiastically asked. "Haha! The mist takes ten minutes to suffocate you. If you can navigate around the hallucinations, just take his heart. His core is the brightest light. Pretty impressive, right? Pat me in the head, Master!" I placed my left hand on top of her head and replied, "Well done, Nori. So All I have to do is combat the hallucinations, huh?" Nori's faint and sleepy voice could be heard.

"The mist! It’s coming from the south!" I stood up, the emerald glow fading instantly. I looked toward the southern ridge. A thick, rolling fog was pouring over the trees. It wasn't the white, natural mist of the mountains. It was a bruised, sickly purple, heavy and clinging. As it moved, the forest went silent. No birds chirped. No insects hummed. Even the wind seemed to die as the purple shroud advanced. "The Siren's Mist," I whispered, remembering the Shadow-Walker’s words in the tent.

It’s a solid thing, unbreakable and ironclad. I closed my eyes, focusing on the powers I was gifted at birth by our goddess. Mist wasn’t something I used often but tonight it was going to save our asses. I imagined a fog to engulf the clearing, so thick you wouldn’t be able to see anything in front of you. I needed it to be pure white and solid, rendering the guards nearly blind. The sharp inhale beside me had me opening my eyes to a wall of mist surrounding us on all sides like we were covered in a blanket.

Maliyla's POV As I opened my eyes, I saw nothing but white mist. I felt as if I had entered an entirely different world. Fog enveloped me, obscuring my vision of anything beyond a few feet. The air was damp and relaxed, with a mysterious stillness that sent shivers down my spine. I couldn't shake the feeling that I had stumbled into a realm untouched by time, a place where secrets whispered in the mist and awaited discovery. Feeling my way through the fog, I walked forward but didn't seem to get anywhere.

Every step echoed through the mountains like a warning. The air grew heavier as she descended. A strange mist rolled upward, blue and silver, swirling around her ankles. It shimmered with energy that made her skin crawl. “This place…” she whispered. “It’s alive.” She didn’t realize she’d spoken aloud until a voice answered from the mist. “Of course it is, little Luna.” Aria spun around, summoning her light, but the mist only laughed — a low, echoing sound that rippled across the valley. “Who are you?” she demanded.

Mist clung to our skin, cold and silvery, and the trees around them were tall, gnarled, and unlike anything from our world. "Is this it?" Kael whispered, I gave him a curt nod. The mist parted slightly—and in the distance, carved into a black cliff, stood the shadowed mouth of the Hollow Veil. “This is Hollow veil.” I said, the tattoo on my collarbone glowed softly, we are here.
