It was like someone, or something, was trying to bring her down. She stared towards Chad, but he said nothing and just took the space beside her. Sky had left to find the boat trader that Greyson had arranged, unofficially, for them to buy over a boat. This boat would take them past the river of Faepool that separated the two cities, to Faepool itself. Alone, they spoke again. She hadn't expected Chad's first words to be about his terms. "I've heard from Sky that you didn't accept him. So, what do you think about my offer?" he grinned craftily.

Kelvin moaned dramatically, letting himself be swayed downwards and upwards by Karen's right wing as she flapped high in the sky. "What the hell, Miss Milburn?" Kelvin and Patrilia screamed in unison. She had leaped so high in the sky that she made them feel dizzy. Kelvin had already started vomiting. Karen continued flying at such a high speed, not minding the mountain peaks she missed colliding with by just an inch. In each mountain peak she passed through, she rubbed slightly against them, causing fire to erupt and consume the whole mountain.

The sky above Jakarta didn't just leak; it collapsed. Thunder rolled across the horizon like a barrage of heavy artillery, shaking the very foundations of the mansion. For Sari, the violence of the weather was a blessing. She stood at the heavy iron servant’s door, her hand hovering over the latch. "You still think Skye's just some regular programmer?" Edward's tone was sharp with disbelief. "She's a top-tier hacker I managed to bring back through old connections! Letting her date you back then was me doing you a favor." Julian froze for several seconds, stunned speechless. When he finally found his voice again, it was full of incredulity. "Her?!" "Yes, her!" Edward barked, his patience gone. "Skye was the best match I could've arranged for you, and look what you've done! You went and got another woman pregnant—what a disgrace!"

Zayden jerked his head up A car was stopped right in front of him. He tried to swerve, but the wet, icy road betrayed him. The tires lost grip. The steering wheel spun under his hands. The vehicle skidded across the slick pavement Then everything flipped. Metal screamed. Glass shattered. The world turned upside down. And then... Silence. Cold. Dark. Of course we will go home. Unless, you want to continue the adventure again. You know?" Alice glanced at the twins in front of her. "Sky is a brave little adventurer. She likes exploring various cool places all over the world." The twins chuckled in awe. Their thumbs stuck out.

Drax, made from wild fungi and ethanol, was banned within the city limits but could be legally purchased and consumed in the Drock. Mother’s message was particularly relevant today, as my age now permitted me entry. Her second message was not to take unnecessary risks on the ice peaks I planned to climb, a message she knew I always ignored. The third was one I had received continually since my early childhood: “Skye, do not, under any circumstances, exercise your powers and bring attention to yourself.” I had asked why many times, only to receive the same answer. “Because I forbid it.” Or, as I grew older, “Because we have a special ability that can be dangerous and must be concealed.”

They may not like me, but at least when they're near, other students can't kill me. Ahead of me, Rowan, Seyla, and Lyra, all link arms as they giggle in excitement. I slow my pace slightly to keep a distance. I don't want my sour mood to bring down theirs. I glance up at the night sky, and I gasp. I stop walking altogether as I take in the millions of stars lighting the sky. I almost forgot how beautiful the night sky is.
