A few yards ahead of me, the ground suddenly opened up and a massive wall of ice shot up from out of nowhere and flew up into the sky. I was damn grateful all of us were at least on the same side and there wasn’t a stray person stuck on their own. I fumbled backwards and into Skyler who was also trying to get out of the way too. *Holy shit, it's a big ass igloo,* Skyler said over mind-link. I gaped up at this massive wall, it had to be a quarter mile high, but I couldn’t even really see the top. I looked to either side and I couldn’t tell where it even ended. Raul shot up into the air to investigate.

Scrolling through the other messages, I finally found a peaceful spot. Lorne: [Good morning, Chloe. I'm coming to pick you up. Don't forget sunscreen today. The sun is really strong.] I: [Got it.] Feeling bored, I clicked into his private page and scrolled through his posts until I came across an invitation, with the caption: [Here we go.] I sat up straight, staring at the invitation. Then a laugh escaped my mouth because it was an invitation to a private gathering from the Lockhart family. No wonder...

"Sky's father owns a travel company? Wow, that's really cool. You're lucky, Sky. You can go on holiday and go on adventures with the services of your father's company." Sky didn't listen to Louis' words at all. Her eyes trembled waiting for her mother's explanation. "Are we going back to Flagstaff?" she asked in a small voice. "Yes! Our house is there. Of course we will go home. Unless, you want to continue the adventure again. You know?" Alice glanced at the twins in front of her. "Sky is a brave little adventurer. She likes exploring various cool places all over the world." The twins chuckled in awe. Their thumbs stuck out.

Drax, made from wild fungi and ethanol, was banned within the city limits but could be legally purchased and consumed in the Drock. Mother’s message was particularly relevant today, as my age now permitted me entry. Her second message was not to take unnecessary risks on the ice peaks I planned to climb, a message she knew I always ignored. The third was one I had received continually since my early childhood: “Skye, do not, under any circumstances, exercise your powers and bring attention to yourself.” I had asked why many times, only to receive the same answer. “Because I forbid it.” Or, as I grew older, “Because we have a special ability that can be dangerous and must be concealed.”

They may not like me, but at least when they're near, other students can't kill me. Ahead of me, Rowan, Seyla, and Lyra, all link arms as they giggle in excitement. I slow my pace slightly to keep a distance. I don't want my sour mood to bring down theirs. I glance up at the night sky, and I gasp. I stop walking altogether as I take in the millions of stars lighting the sky. I almost forgot how beautiful the night sky is.

Marina commanded While Dragging Little Mariana from her dazed state. She looked up once again and noticed that she cannot even see the sky anymore; the approaching colossus was even closer the first time she noticed its arrival. The clouds before were now replaced by hanging sky vines, the roots of the sky tree, and stalactites which all seemed to be pointed in their direction. Also, they had also been completely blocked by the sunlight. “But grandma, I want to look at it! It’s so big and beautiful and how is it flying?! It’s so amazing!” Mariana exclaimed.

Higher and higher she ascended, the chaos below diminishing as she reached the calm embrace of the cloud-filled sky. As Sable soared through the heavens, she marveled at the beauty of this ethereal realm. The clouds shimmered with iridescent hues, casting a soft glow that bathed everything in a gentle, otherworldly light. She could hear whispers carried by the wind, tales of forgotten wisdom and ancient secrets swirling around her like a celestial symphony.

Ryu smiled after a laugh. “Yes,” Luna agreed, “After all, he is Theon.” After we all mumbled our non-reluctant wishes, Luna finally let the lantern go, flying up to the cold, midnight sky we dragons were promised to soar. As we longed for that very day to come, all that we can do as of now is to appreciate this scene of colorful rectangular objects soaring up to the sky in our stead. Our soft smiles fabricated silence, as we all gaze up to the night sky, praying that whoever is living there may our best of intentions be heard.

Vanessa sat beside Adrian, scrolling through her phone. “You won’t believe what I saw yesterday,” she said suddenly. Adrian glanced at her. “What?” “After you dropped me off, I was driving home and I saw something in the sky.” She turned her phone toward him, showing him a photo. “Look.” Adrian squinted at the screen. White letters against a blue sky. Thick smoke trails forming words. **HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRA** **WELCOME HOME** His stomach tightened. “There was a jet,” Vanessa continued, her tone light but pointed. “Someone hired a jet to write ‘Happy Birthday Kira’ across the entire sky. Can you believe that?”

The thought of pouncing on her and tickling her rang through his head but he didn’t want to go too far. “What’s the matter?” Cheyenne asked him, noticing his smile falter. Skylar looked up at her, not realizing that his gaze had faltered along with his playfulness. “It’s nothing.” “That look doesn’t look like nothing.” “I just don’t want to frighten you backwards.” Cheyenne looked down and sat on her behind and crossed her legs, sighing. “I took a leap yesterday. A dive, if you will. Out of an airplane. Without a parachute. And I’m not going to lie, it terrifies me. But I feel different, Skylar.”
