My hands were cold, and I stared at the screen again. “It is not his empire,” I said. "This is his bloodline." Footsteps resounded outside the room. The door opened. Dino stood with an unreadable expression. "You found something," he said. I swung around and looked at him a-throbbing. "Yes," I replied. His eyes sharpened. "What did you find, Drina?" I turned back and looked at the screen, and then at the man whose name had plagued all corners of my life. "A ghost," I said. "And it belongs to your family."

I cried out, terrified and in pain. She half shifted, something people generally avoided doing, pinning me down on the ground. “I'll kill you before you hurt my niece!” She snarled quietly at me. I could feel blood begin to trickle down my body as I heard the sound of a weapon being drawn. Instantly I felt a searing, burning pain on my chest right where my heart was. Whatever it was, surely a dagger based on the size, it was laced with wolfsbane. Wolfsbane was one of our biggest weaknesses. Wolfsbane was also something that could hinder healing. I screamed out in intense pain at the searing sensation, tears streaming down my face, blood down my body.

So I grabbed my teddy bear and walked down the stairs. When I came into the kitchen, I didn't saw my daddy and my mommy standing there, arguing and fighting. I just saw my mommy laying on the floor in a puddle of blood. The red liquid was coming out of her belly and flooded around her. Her eyes were wide open and her brown hair had become red of her blood. I whispered her name and grabbed her hand as I knelt next to her. The tears were falling down my cheeks like a waterfall. Her blood was now on my white pajamas. My hands were painted with her blood as I tried to shake her awake.

It sloshed around until it filled to the top. Veronica removed the needle and the smell of her blood wafted up to me. I was still in my demon form! Shit! My bloodlust started to come out as my eyes instantly went to the spot where a drop of blood seeped out over her fair skin. My throat started to burn and itch as it began to crave for blood. I gulped and forced my eyes to look away. After the second vial was full, it felt like pure torture. Veronica bandaged up Arisa, stopping the bleeding but it was too late. The smell of blood filled the room.

She pressed the paper towel to her nose, suppressing the blood. Oh no! This bitch didn’t just say that. “Do you need help fixing your loose screws? Because I’d be happy to help. I’m sure you’ve seen just how helpful I can be,” I said sarcastically, with disdain laced in my voice. If you enter a lion’s den, you already know there’s a probability that he will draw blood. But this is different; she entered my den, hit me, and did it right inside my den. As much as I hated violence, one thing I would never do is let a girl live with the satisfaction that I feared her. Never! It was always my call to make, not the other way around, and certainly not from this stupidly brazen girl.
