I didn't know what you liked so I also picked two cupcakes and two muffins just in case.” My forehead furrows in a mixture of confusion and suspicion. “Who are you?” “I'm Lina. I'm an Omega wolf and all the wolves tell me that I'm weak and…” “They tell you that?” I interrupt her, anger skimming my blood all of a sudden. She looks shocked by my reaction and her nod of affirmation is tentative. I raise myself up into a sitting position and face her completely. “Who tells you that? Can you show me the particular people who find it important to run you down?”

I wanted to protest, but he added, "Just act as my Luna." Although it was difficult to comply with his sudden request, as I was not yet ready to be Luna, I had no choice but to follow his order. Elder Vera rises. "Luna Whitmore. Your sacrifice for your daughter is noted and honored by this Council." Her voice is careful, carrying something underneath the formality. "However, questions have been raised about your current position. You are Luna of Moonshadow Pack, mated to Alpha Ashford. But you no longer possess Alpha nature." A pause. "The question before this Council is whether an omega can serve as Luna." The murmur that goes through the room is not surprise. It's the sound of people who already had opinions finding permission to voice them.

“No. I’m not an omega. But that doesn’t matter.” She leveled me with a look. “What do you mean, you aren’t an omega? You are dressed like one.” She scoffed. “Why doesn’t it matter, anyway? I’m the fucking luna.” The omega moved over behind the luna. He sensed the danger that was in front of him. “How about we don’t antagonize the woman that is blocking our exit?” “He’s a smart man.” I grinned, and I pulled the mask off.

But Luna was faster. She stepped in front of him instead. Her hand slammed down on her stomach. Silver light exploded from her palm. From her wolf. From her mother’s power she’d never known she had.
