It was true that it was supposed to happen, but now it's impossible." She said nervously and sadly, "Then why did you marry me!" He answered her more nervously: "Then why did you kiss me!?" (Aurora’s POV) I was sitting on the edge of my bed, my fingers grazing the soft fabric of my dress as I replayed the conversation with Owen in my mind. A small, involuntary smile crept onto my lips. I had been so nervous, so unsure of where I stood in this forced marriage. From the beginning, I had only thought about fulfilling papa’s wish, to bring his sons together, to heal the wounds that had divided them for years. That had been my only purpose…or at least, that’s what I thought.

But I was outnumbered. Two others seized my arms while another forced a hand against my shoulder. They shoved me down, and my knees struck the marble beneath Cassian’s polished shoes. Pain shot through my legs. The boutique went silent. This was the man I had returned from the border prepared to marry. His family had begged mine for an alliance, yet at our first meeting, he had ordered his guards to force me to my knees. Juliette clung to his arm. “She still hasn’t apologized.”
