I went to the living room and, as expected, found the pair of underwear I was looking for in his bag. Downstairs, I called my best friend. "Help me look up someone. I have shopping records." I started the car, planning to visit the real estate office to check on property transactions. Suddenly, I felt something sharp poking at me from underneath the seat. I reached down and pulled out a black lace bra. Clearly, it matched the underwear. This car was usually Milton's—since I worked near home, I usually took the subway. This meant their entanglement that night had probably started in this very car.

Some looked new, but many looked like they hadn’t been touched in years, with dust coating their tops and pages peeking out like secrets trying to escape. I ran my fingers across the spines, feeling the rough textures and worn edges. I wasn’t even sure what I was searching for, but I had to try. There had to be something—anything—that could explain the silver flame on my finger, or that strange, beautiful woman with white hair from my dream. It looked very ancient as it was torn at some edges. “I picked this up during one of my research trips.” She said as she handed the book to Annabelle. “ It has some information on Luke but it doesn’t state his weakness.
