This one was about some girl—Callie, who’d gotten herself mixed up with this guy, Damian, all brooding and mysterious, the type with a past that could crush him if he let it. But he was in love with her, of course. Only he didn’t say it. Not outright. No, Damian was the kind of guy who spoke in actions, not words.

I was amazed at Athena's persistence in getting someone to read something she loved. “How did she succeed in getting you to read this kind of book? I know you are not the romantic type of man, not even the type who likes history.”

She said. "Come on this is not a marriage proposal, do you think my marriage proposal will be as lame as this? I can be very romantic when I want to be you know." I said and she laughed. "You? Romantic? Okay tell me, how will your marriage proposal be?" She asked. "You'll only get to find out if you accept to date me now so do you?" I asked. "I told you so." She said. "What?" "Substance?!" Ruby mocked, completely offended. "Are you implying my romance novels don't have substance? Excuse you, but enemies-to-lovers tropes require intense psychological maneuvering! The angst! The tension! It's art, Alexander. Your little Russian thrillers have nothing on a slow-burn romance."

A sharp bell rang out, echoing through the night. A shrill voice announced, "The time has come. Let the bride enter!" A black carriage, lavishly decorated yet unsettling, rolled in slowly. I then decided to read a novel, a steamy romantic one of course. I was a lover of thrilling romantic stories. I've literally read every single one you can ever think of, at the time, except for 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' of course. I couldn't read it because I couldn't get it. I had a collection of such stories in my bookshelf, while I was still at home. I took a few of them with me to school.
