If anyone wanted to hide something…If anyone wanted to hurt someone without ever being caught… If anyone wanted to disappear completely… They’d go to the Hollow Mountain.

Threads of emerald and mahogany twisted into the air, coming from both the Fae men and the mountain itself. A loud grinding sound filled the air, like stones rubbing against one another. The base of the mountain seemed to split open, the earth moving to reveal what hid within. Torches protruded from the walls of the cavern, spewing green light against the rocky walls. The tunnel seemed to dip down into the earth, far beyond what I could see. With my Fae enhanced vision, I could make out the grooves on the tunnel walls, and see the faded paintings that had once been bright and beautiful.

The two front windows were down. The smell of fresh-cut grass, the mountains, and animals made me grin. Gravel crunched beneath my tires, and dust filled the air. It was different here than it was in the city. Helen's driveway was long, but you could see her big cabin, the barn, and a couple of sheds from the road.

It was a plain with a tall mountain at its center. Meanwhile, group one heads up the side of the mountain to get aerial shots of the land below and to scope out the various entrances into the caves. They passed a winding national road, crossed a pitch-black river, and finally entered the boundaries of Crimson Hollow. All around were tall mountains, but the landscape was bare and black—not a hint of green in sight. Occasionally, a tree stood, long dead and lifeless, stripped of any vitality, leaving only a bleak, harrowing presence.

Caves dotted the mountainsides, dark openings that could hide entire armies. And in the valley between two peaks, Viktor's camp sprawled. We observed from a ridge overlooking the valley, concealed by rocks and scrub brush.
