Like dead leaves. I walk back to the stove and turn off the heat. The whistling stops. The apartment is quiet again. I sit at my drafting table and pick up a charcoal pencil. I don't look at the news. I don't look at the phone. I just look at the white paper. I start to draw. I don't draw a cage. I don't draw a man in a suit. I draw a fence.
