And I craved him. I looked down at my swollen belly, running my hands over the small bump. You are my salvation, I thought, feeling the tiny life inside. And you are my damnation. I finished the eggs, swallowed the vitamin, and lay back against the silk sheets. The penthouse was silent, cold, and beautiful. I had been saved from the gutter. But as the hours crawled by, and the daylight turned to dusk, I realized I was just waiting for the monster to come home and claim me.

Hope stepped back. “You.” The older Hope smiled. “Yes.” “What do you want?” “I want you to understand.” “Understand what?” “That you cannot save everyone.” Hope shook her head. “I don’t believe that.” “You will.” The older Hope raised her hand. Another vision appeared. Hope saw Adrian. He was kneeling beside Nova.

My heart sped, and hope surged through me. But I felt my blood stop cold as the figures entered the light. Salvation was not what it was. More of Dante's disciples were involved here. And I was going to confront them all.

Those were shouts of joy when someone was usually taken to the gallows to be killed. But aside from that, I knew that I had to find the resilience within myself to survive this nightmare and, hopefully, find a way to escape from his clutches. But it wasn't going to be easy. Even as I lay there with nothing but short, bated breath that seemed to be even leaving me, I still had that kindled light of hope burning in my heart. All it was going to take was some pure stroke of luck, some act of God to act in my favour. Some miracle. Yes, it was possible and yes It could happen to me.
