I groaned and tried to forcefully yank my hands away, but that only made things more awkward. "Leave me, you bloody mo—" "Monster!" he completed my words in a calm drawl, which caused my body to shiver with fear. I was already close; too close to him, and even with my fragile anger, he looked unfazed. I badly want to gouge his eyes out, yet my skin prickled against my body. His scent engulfed me in ways I want to hate. Mikael smiled. A smile filled with so much ill intent, and I tried my best to figure out what was in his head; however, he is like a book that doesn't want to be read unless he says otherwise.

Mia's POV "There is nothing wrong with what you are doing," Lila said, pacing back and forth across the small room like she was the one with a decision to make. "You just have to sleep with someone you do not know to save your mother. One night, Mia. That is all." She added. I sat on the edge of my bed, watching her pace, and said nothing because honestly, what was there to say? She made it sound so simple, like picking up an extra shift at the restaurant or selling an old textbook.

Mia's POV I was in a study, the exact same that I had had romantic conversations with Hazel in a lifetime ago. In the middle of the study was a young girl, about five or six. Instictively, I realised that was a much younger me. A me that wasn't aware of Hazel, because Hazel did not yet exist to it. Only the castle, and Mabel, and my parents: Alpha Megan and Luna Jessica. And their love. Their all consuming love that didn't care for the fact that she didn't have a wolf.

Ana explains. Mikael is a Gamma, a teacher, and Ana's soulmate. But she didn't want to accept him because he treated me like anyone else. When she turned eighteen years old, three years ago, Mikael felt the bond between them. He tried to convince Ana to accept him. But she refused him, telling him she won't be the soulmate of someone that treats me poorly. So now he mostly ignores me. And spends most of his free time tagging behind Ana. Another person who got hurt because of me. Every day I hate myself more and more.

Jonathan looked at me incredulously and clasped my face. As his cold hand touched my face, electricity rushed down my spine, and I closed my eyes to feel his touch.
