Ellie felt this was unfair. He opened the library door roughly and walked in. As he entered the fourth hall he smelled the stench of carrion. Ellie felt nauseous and wanted to throw up. But he was also curious about where the smell of the carcass came from. In his heart he guessed that it must be the smell of poisoned or trapped mice. He continued forward in the direction of the smell. When he reached the end he saw a pool of blood on the floor. Ellie approached and looked around the corner. "Aaaaaa!"

Horror flooded my senses. Now I got what they meant by warm flesh. They weren't just after my blood. They wanted something else. Something worse.

"The attic suite is suicide! The thing in there isn't just a ghost, it's—" "It's what?" She bit her lip, her voice a terrified whisper. “It’s the Shadow Lord. An ancient entity that devours light and souls. They say he rips your soul straight from your body, leaving your mind to scream in the endless dark until he finally swallows you whole.” I pulled my arm away. “Sounds cool.” “Cool?!” Marcus leaned over the third-floor railing. “Little girl, do you have any idea what happened to the last player who tried that? He didn’t even make it through the first night. The next morning, all they found was a human-shaped bloodstain on the floor!”

I was in the wrong game? This was a horror game, not an otome romance? In just a few seconds, every strange detail suddenly made sense.

They emerge from a hole in the ground, a dark and menacing opening that seems to be the very gate to the underworld. The Drider, an equally terrifying entity, accompanies them. Its appearance is a grotesque blend of spider and humanoid, with a body covered in dark hair and long, sharp legs that creak with every movement. Its eyes, a bloody red, reflect pure malice and an insatiable thirst for power. Together, Drider and the Skinning of the mind are the embodiment of horror, a sight that could chill the bravest of souls to the bone.

I had this terrible habit of reading horror stories and spending sleepless nights huddled under the covers in fear. My mouth simply hangs open- my mind blurs as blood drips from my hands at the sight. Selene. Selene! Eyes of crimson peer through the darkness under the hold. Thin, long, dark claws elongate, scratching the wood as the creature emerges. A creature of skin and bones, of shadow and chaos. It stands taller than I have ever seen, switching from all fours to its two feet. It unfurled, fangs revealed as it growled. Drenched in blood, skin, and things only found within. I was directed to the shelf that contained books on mystical beings. I picked the first book I could lay my hands on and opened it to the chapter where vampires were discussed. "I guess you love fairy tales," I turned to see a young man, dressed in a black suit. His hands were in his pocket as he was grinning widely at me. I cocked my eyebrow. "Vampires aren't necessarily classified as fairy tales" I corrected him. "You could say so. I mean they're different, strange, and strong. They ain't human"
