I steeled myself and opened the door. The hallway was awash in red. Smears and spatters of bright and dark blood covered the walls, the floor, and my door. My head reeled. What the hell happened? Why was there so much blood outside my door? Hadn't the guy in 603 seen it through his peephole? I couldn't help looking toward apartment 603. To my surprise, the door stood half-open, and it was dead quiet inside. I picked my way past the bloodstains and made my way to apartment 603.

He pauses before continuing with that slithering accent like something you would hear in a horror story or someplace in the darkest parts of Europe, “Have you ever wondered if the things that go bump in the night really exist? Or if they are a figment of your imagination?” Getting more creeped out by the second, I keep staring at him and then find that I can speak again. Before I utter an answer, I raise my hand up to my forehead and wipe a strand of my blonde hair out of my eyes so I can concentrate. “Sure, I have always been intrigued by the forces of darkness, but do they really exist as they do in my novels and dreams?”

The villa began painting the walls of a new haunted house. A heavy morning after a terrifying night. Morning at that villa was unlike any other. Even with the sunrise, it couldn't erase the traces of the terror that had filled the house the previous night. Its golden rays timidly peeked through the heavy curtains, as if afraid to intrude upon a place that had witnessed unspeakable psychological horror lurking in the darkness.

I darted my eyes away quickly-- "You promised," Al said all of a sudden. "What?" I paused in surprise. "No question asked," Al smirked, holding out his hand to me. I was grateful that he didn't ask into it. Night fell. So the thing about horror stories is that-- The fear kicks in only at dark nights when you are alone, not when you are at the crowded theater or on the bright street. Meaning-- I couldn't fall asleep that night. Turns out it's a bit hard to fall asleep when you don't close your eyes because you feel the need to stare at everything with alert.

Just as I wondered if I had somehow ended up in the afterlife, a cold mechanical voice echoed around me. “Welcome, players, to the horror game, Spring Manor. You must escape within twenty-four hours. Failure to complete the mission will result in permanent confinement within the game world. “Number of participants: 10. Difficulty: S-Rank. We wish all players an enjoyable experience.” As soon as the voice faded, the fog slowly thinned before disappearing completely. A massive old-fashioned building appeared before us. The building was still as cold as they remembered. The corridors were silent to death. Dim lights add to the chillness of the walls. A certain odour lingered in the dark holes in the walls. It was a castle. But it seemed like nobody lived in it. A faint hint of blood entered Max's nostrils and he held his breath. It burnt his inside.

A branch in its endless, gnarled roots. And then, the darkness fractured. Light. It was a flicker, a sudden flash of brightness that felt like fire on his skin. Ben’s eyes snapped open, and he gasped, pulling in air that tasted like ash. His body jerked with the instinct to flee, but there was nowhere to run. He was still on the cold ground, but the forest was no longer just an empty abyss. It was a labyrinth, a twisted landscape of trees with faces carved into their trunks, eyes staring out at him, watching, waiting.

I don't even have his number! "Hello? Who's there?" I whispered. It was like a horror movie. The girl in the forest screaming and running for her dear life. Maybe it is Jordan. He is a douchebag but can he pull such a stunt just to scare me? One thing I learned from the horror movies I watch is never to scream and run so I backed away and tried to be in the shade because the moon was up and bright. I don't want to be spotted or watched by who may or may not be my predator.

Each corner I turned revealed more and more lifeless bodies, my heart breaking with every sight. The hallways felt suffocating, as though every step I took was leading me deeper into a twisted nightmare.
