A Step Back
I returned to the place I had left only half a month ago, but it felt like a lifetime, my home.
When I opened the door, a sour, foul smell hit me.
The place was a complete mess. My parents and Dylan looked haggard and worn-out, as though life had sucked the color from them.
The moment they saw me, it was like I had become a savior. Light exploded in their eyes.
Mom lunged first, arms wide, trying to hug me.
“Henry! My son! You’re finally back! I was wrong, I was really wrong! Please forgive me!”
