She says hugging into me, i take the card from her hands and i open the door then hand it back to her, when i know she's protected I engulf my body in flames and I swing open the door, lines and lines of salt sat across my path, dark mountains ash was glued to the floor. I imagine in the hopes that nobody could break the barrier by accident. Taking a nervous breath I step over it, as I do the salt, the mountain ash and the glue burns to a crisp, breaking the barrier and allowing us to leave.

The shard pulsed with approval, its rhythm syncing to her defiance, its hunger fed by her refusal to yield. But then I saw it—the shadow creeping at her back, the cost she had not wanted to see. A man lay at her feet, his chest unmoving, eyes closed as flames licked the edges of his body. His hand still reached for hers, though he was long gone. Ashara’s power had saved her, but it had claimed him. The shard whispered through me, a cruel caress: She chose, as you must.

Nothing happened. Maya touched the symbol. The door responded. A deep mechanical sound rolled through the chamber. The lock disengaged. Julian stared at her. “Maya…” “I know.” The door opened. Inside was not a room. It was an archive. Shelves stretched into darkness. Ancient books. Metal cases. Sealed containers. Maps. Photographs. Contracts. Bloodline records. Everything Bloodmoon had ever been built upon. Maya stepped inside. Then she saw the wall.

Chapter 4 Ashley Gustavo POV I stood in front of the Greyson's mansion, my heart hammered against my chest as I stared at the building. I had finally agreed to marry Asher to get back on Ace, but a part of me was still having this feeling. Maybe I shouldn't have done that. It was already one week since the incident, and Ace had not called me, not even for once.

Just then, a small head peeked through the suffocating smoke. “Madam, do you need any help?” someone asked timidly. I forced my eyes open and saw a young boy who was about the same age as my son. He was covered in ash and dirt, but his eyes shone brightly through the smoke. He was so small in size, yet he managed to muster the strength to help me up. Then, together, we slowly made our way outside. The path to the outside was incredibly challenging, and I felt like giving up several times.

=ASHLEY's POV= After Asher and I talk, he offered to drop me home. We are together now in his car. He had already offered me to stay at Leanna’s house. I denied it at first but he insisted so I agreed. "Asher, Charles is dying, he can't talk, he can't move. Is it ok if I bring you there once to see him and get to know him?" I look at him whether he will agree or not. I decided not to tell him first who Charles is in my life. I prefer to let them meet first before he will know who is Charles.

THE BEAST I MARRIED. CHAPTER 59 ASHLEYS POV. It was another working day. Another day of my miserable life to go and stay in the office and get punished for every little mistake that I will make. So far, I could swear that this is the worst mistake of my life.

My father, stepmother, and stepsister waited, a trio of vipers who made every day a battle. I trudged up the creaking stairs to our rundown townhouse, the air thick with stale popcorn and neglect. The living room was a mess—empty soda cans, crumpled chip bags, and breakfast plates abandoned on the coffee table. My stepsister, Chloe, sprawled on the couch, her platinum blonde hair fanned out like she was auditioning for a shampoo commercial. Diane was beside her, talons buried in a popcorn bowl, laughing at some reality show blaring on the TV—The Real Housewives of Chicago, all fake drane and glittering lies. Richard, my father, slouched in his armchair, a beer in hand.

Around midnight she reached the section describing Meher's gradual decline. The whispers. The forest. The growing suspicion. The fear. A knot formed in her stomach. She kept reading. Then came the murder. The rain. The clearing. Meher's final words. I have only loved you. Aisha closed the notebook abruptly. The room felt too warm. For several moments she simply sat there staring at nothing. The tragedy struck harder than she expected. Not because it was real. Because it wasn't. Somehow that made it worse. A fictional murder should not have felt devastating.

Chapter 37: Ghost. Ashley. Agony, Pain I tried to reconcile the happenings in the past few hours. The only thing I knew was having a quarrel with Boris and then trying to shield my daughter from harm, but the scenario was so tempting that I couldn’t even think straight. I flinched at the sight of blood all over the place and the garment which was soaked to the core.
