"You keep looking for picture books. Why?" he muttered, his voice low. I hesitated, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks. "That's because I don't know how to read," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.

When I got it I climbed down the stairs . The book had an old leather cover, the edge of the pages were worn out, yellow in colour. It looked like a journal. There was dust on it. I opened the books. The book was written in several languages. It looked like spells. Below every spell there was an English translation. I was going through the book when my eyes fell on a spell. It was a spell to find things or places. According to the journal, if we recite the spell three times while thinking about the object or place the book will show the vision of the location.

I was not going to take the risk to find out. Jackpot! I had read the book over and over again but everytime I tried reading it again, it still had the element like it kept generating new spells or maybe I just had poor memory. I read the pages, the handwritten warnings and say the exact words a few times aiming to memorize it,

I sit down patiently as I study the history as I prop my hand on the table to find out what I had never heard about. I finish with the history and decide to close the Latin book for today while I begin to practice some spells. I climb up the ladder to pick up the spell book.

I walked over to it, running my fingers over the cover. This book was the key to my power. With its dark magic, I would be unstoppable. I opened the book, scanning the pages filled with ancient spells and incantations. My eyes landed on a particular spell, one that would guarantee my victory over the pack.
