THE LAST PACK
I slipped out of the cabin, keeping low, and darted through the shadows toward the dining area.
As I rounded the corner, I froze—armed men were stationed in front of the building, scanning the area. Past them, I caught sight of Nolan, slumped and chained to a post, his head hanging. He looked out of it, dazed and barely conscious. Suddenly, Zanto sprinted from behind a stack of crates, his face wild with desperation as he ran toward me.
"RUN, RUN!" he shouted. Before I could react, a sharp crack split the air. The bullet struck him in the head, and he dropped instantly, the force of it staggering me. My legs locked in place, shock slamming into me so hard I couldn't move or even scream.
