Sirius sniffed at the jar with his giant muzzle, as if unconvinced I hadn’t done some slight of hand.
“The entire thing,” Mistra instructed, handing me a syringe.
“The whole thing?”
She placed her hands on my hips. “Did I stutter?”
Or just half. I don’t need to sleep that deeply.
Nice try, I shot back.
“And this keeps him out for how long?”
Mistra pointed at the clock. It was nearly five thirty in the morning. “About sixteen to seventeen hours, give or take. Just don’t spill any.”
I studied the vial, mentally comparing notes with Kira’s dosage and his. Then, with practiced efficiency, I drained the bottle and put it up to Sirius’s mouth. “Open up,” I instructed.
