How Many Pages In The Catcher In The Rye Novels & Stories

I turn the phone back off and return it to the desk. Finally, I turn back to the bookshelf. I pick up a book I found titled The Catcher in the Rye . I recognized the title as a classic piece of American literature, but I've never read it myself. His copy looks distinctly different from the rest of his books. The others look either new or almost new, but this one looks as though it has been read several times. I settle on the couch, open the book, and begin to read. ~~~ I freeze when I hear thumping outside on the porch. The doorknob rattles. I stare at the door in terror. A loud knock sounds. It's probably Ryan. It's got to be him. Definitely.

She typed the last sentence, read it back once, and then sat for a long time looking at the screen. Two hundred and thirty-one pages. Ten months of events and observation and feeling, shaped into something that had a beginning and a middle and an end, a through-line from a waiting room that smelled like fresh paint and old money to a kitchen table on a May morning after a wedding in a garden where someone had planted flowers that came back every year.

I had just finished journal 3 when I stopped. “What am I doing?” I whispered and dropped the journal, “No, no, no. Please no. Stop.” I dropped to my knees and started to collect all the pages. In a frantic hurry, I picked up each page as if they were about to fade away. Pages had landed everywhere. On the bed, behind the cupboard, under the tables, even in the bathroom. I picked up 575 pages. Each journal was a book of 192 pages… which meant one page was missing.

(Jette came near the phone and answered the call) “Hello, Ma’am, how may I help you?” asked Jette. “Please find the first rule in the middle of the book,” said the woman on the other line. “Hello, what do you mean?” asked Jette. (Busy phone sound starts) *** At home, when she arrived, she counted all the pages, the book contains 500 pages. She divided it by two, she carefully turns every page. When she reaches page 250, she found a little envelope, and she opened it, Jette opened the small paper inside, and she reads it…

moving on to the next page. The husband, i paused at that, did i skip a page? my eyes travel to the previous page yeah, i was just reading on the capo i expected a continuation from there not another topic entirely. when my eyes travel to the bottom of the page it said page 4, on the next page its numbered page 18. what the hell? It seems some pages are missing, when I take a closer look at the middle of the book gasped, more like ripped out. "Some pages are missing" I said out loud.

"You hated it?" "No." "You loved it?" "No." "That narrows it down." Walter looked down at the book. His thumb brushed the edge of the cover. A tiny movement. Easy to miss. "I finished it." Lois stared. "Already?" "It wasn't very long." "It was four hundred pages." Silence. The silence answered for him. Her eyes widened. "You stayed up reading." "No." "You absolutely stayed up reading." "I had insomnia." "Convenient." For the briefest moment, Walter looked almost embarrassed.

He came through at nine for water and looked at my screen over my shoulder. “How long,” he said. “Twelve pages,” I said. “I know.” “Don’t cut it,” he said. “If it needs twelve pages, it needs twelve pages.” “Rachel said a brief,” I said. “Rachel wants your thinking,” he said. “Give her all of it. She can decide what to keep.” I kept all twelve pages. Rachel read it Friday morning and had four things to say about it, all of which were useful, two of which fundamentally changed how I’d framed one of the arguments.

"There has to be more." Detective Cruz nodded. "There is." Everyone looked at her. "The journal originally contained sixty-two pages." Aya froze. "I've only seen twenty-seven." "Exactly." The detective's expression darkened. "Thirty-five pages are still missing." The room fell silent. Richard slowly stood. "Who removed them?" Detective Cruz answered without hesitation. "The same person who's been following Aya." — A loud crash echoed somewhere upstairs. Everyone jumped. One of the officers spoke into his radio.

Because I have a very good feeling that what Rory has just signed on my cast may as well be my death sentence! END OF PART I. My book will be divided into several parts... to show the end of one part of the characters lives and the beginning of another.
