A hand clamped around my mouth as another wrapped around my torso pulling me behind a tree. "Mmph..." "Shh." Someone's breathing hit my ear, and I forcefully turned my head to come face to face with a pair of sea-green eyes motioning to the other direction. Frowning I directed my gaze there, and my eyes widened as a huge black bear was coming right towards us while sniffing the air.

Now, I was determined to finish it. I needed to capture every detail, to understand what I had seen in the woods. I focused on the details I hadn't finished before. The powerful claws at the end of its massive paws, each one sharp and curved. The way the fur bristled around its shoulders, making it look even bigger and more intimidating. I shaded the thick fur, trying to recreate the way the moonlight had made it seem almost black. The red glow of its eyes was still the most striking feature, and I carefully used my colored pencils to capture that intense, burning gaze.

I gasp as a thundering, huge, black bear, comes crashing through the nearby tree line suddenly, completely unexpectedly, downwind from me, so no scent warning, almost soundlessly until that last moment. “Shit!”

And then they both take off towards us. "Crap!" Haden screams, and we get ready for the clash. I use her general bear slowness to my advantage and claw her on the shoulder myself.

They're up at the sight of me. "There was a bear," I shout and frantically shed my layers. "What?" My mother leaves the table and comes to me. "A bear? Where?" I started to ease out of the bush to leave when a larger bear entered the clearing. I cursed silently and sat back down. I eyed the bears. I heard footsteps and I sighed.
