Gently, I pulled her hand towards the bathtub. I turned on the tap, and the cold water rinsed away the black patches of her dried blood until her hand was clean, revealing the deep cut. It wasn't so deep that it needed stitches. I pulled out methylated spirit and balls of cotton, then dabbed the cotton against the spirit. As I brushed her hand with it, she withdrew immediately, hissing in pain. She moved back a little, and I dropped the cotton, making my way to her. I took out her hand and leaned closer, expecting her to push me away, but she didn't.

I placed the jacket on the ground where the golden rays of sunlight touched the floor boards and I saw the dried blood start to liquefy before it evaporated into thin air. I take out the essentials needed for this; some spirit, cotton wool, bandage. Next, I lower myself to my knees in front of him, then take one palm in mine and start to dab at it with the wool which I’ve submerged in the spirit. Most of the blood is dried up already by this time, and I have to apply a little pressure to actually get it out. He does well for the first few seconds, until he starts to wince and try to pull his hand away. I cast a glare up at him, “Stop moving, I can’t really keep you down.”
