Zombies trapped in the other sections of Level Three caught the scent and were released. Thousands of them began running through the pitch-black floor, pouring nonstop toward the only place with living people. Hayley's expression changed. "Run!" Everyone instantly went back into survival sprint mode. They charged blindly into the darkness, one after another, running for their lives. "Raarh!" A zombie leapt out from a side corridor straight at Hayley. Shing! She took its head off with a single saber strike. That was when she heard it. A faint, mechanical whir.

That was way better than just waiting for them to strike. Maria had the blanket over her face just below her eyes. Ann had her head on my shoulder. She had managed to squeeze herself between the couch and me. She was tough but when it came to horror movies she was a sissy girl just like the rest of us. “What is she doing, run don’t wait for him!” Ann screamed at the screen. “He’s in the shadows can’t she see him!” Maria was screaming at the screen too. “Of course not, she’s too busy helping him…arrgh, there he is!”

I could hear muffled voices plotting and conspiring—their intentions shrouded in mystery. One kept staring at me. I didn’t know how to act in front of Zen. The atmosphere grew stifling as the minutes ticked by. Zen’s eyes conveyed a silent reassurance, a shared determination to survive this nightmare. In the eerie silence, my mind raced, desperately seeking a way out of this surreal horror. Suddenly, the room plunged into darkness, a deafening silence replacing the chaos. What! What was going on? I turned, and I couldn’t find Zen. Panic clawed at my throat, threatening to suffocate me. Then, a single beam of light pierced the blackness, revealing the silhouette of a figure.

He is a douchebag but can he pull such a stunt just to scare me? One thing I learned from the horror movies I watch is never to scream and run so I backed away and tried to be in the shade because the moon was up and bright. I don't want to be spotted or watched by who may or may not be my predator.

This is exactly how horror movies start. I tried to calm myself down by petting my chest. I was alone in the kitchen. No one was here to save me. If someone barged in to kill me, I will be like a mouse trapped in a cage with a cat. The rapid footsteps get closer to the kitchen. The screams were getting louder. There are typical horror movie moments that you know have nothing to do with our real life, that will never happen. But what can you do when such a moment suddenly happens to you? You can't do anything but try to absorb it. That is, of course, assuming you can take action... I couldn't do anything as I watched the scene in front of me. The warning was clear as day. The opening credits rolled, and the lights of the living room dimmed, leaving only the flicker of the TV screen to cut through the darkness. The eerie music soon crept up the walls, and the first jumpscare sent a jolt through my body. My hands flew to my face, shielding my eyes. I could hear Logan’s chuckle next to me, a sound that should’ve been comforting but instead was a reminder of the dangerous game I was playing.
