“Don’t try to deny it. I’ve been observing you. There’s no affection, no warmth. It’s like you’re two strangers sharing a house.”
“We’re both busy,” he said defensively. “It’s not like we have time to—”
“Nonsense,” she snapped. “You make time for what matters. Tell me, Carter, when was the last time you did something thoughtful for her? Did you buy her flowers? Surprised her with a romantic gesture? Or do you even know what her favourite flower is?”
The question caught him off guard, and his silence betrayed him.
“That’s what I thought,” she said, shaking her head. “Marriage is work, Carter. If you want it to thrive, you have to nurture it. Otherwise, it’ll crumble before your eyes.”
