His words were precise, deliberate, and, God help me, boring in the most elegant way possible. He was talking about policy shifts, cultural integration, or something equally soul-numbing, and yet somehow, he made it sound like a TED Talk. I nodded along, pretending to follow, tracing the rim of my glass just to keep my hands busy.
