Noticing if your Kindle is charging can be pretty straightforward, and I find myself checking it often when I’m excited to dive into my next read. First off, you should look for that little lightning bolt icon on the battery indicator at the top right corner of the screen. When this icon appears, it means the device is receiving charge. If it’s not showing up, or if the battery icon is just static without the bolt, it’s likely not charging.
Additionally, if you’ve plugged it into a power source, you might want to check the screen—when it's charging, some models will briefly flash a charging message when you wake it up. If you haven’t looked into the power adapter you’re using, try to double-check that, too. Using the original charger often makes a difference. Sometimes I’ve tried using a different USB port or a charger from another device, and it just wouldn’t work for my Kindle.
Lastly, if your Kindle doesn’t seem to respond at all, it might need a reset—hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until you see the restart screen. That often helps reset any quirks it may have developed.
