Third Wheel
I pull my eye mask down; sleep returns quickly.
Later, a text alert sounds on my phone. I hop up from my comfy reading nest on the sofa to snag my iPhone from its charger on the nightstand.
Kennedy: Appt in 1 hr
Me: I’ll be there
Kennedy: C ya soon
I close my Kindle App on my iPad then carry it to charge in my room. I hop in the shower, then prepare for today’s group counseling session.
With my journal in hand, I enter the lobby. Kennedy checks in at the reception desk, then turns to wave my way. We choose two adjoining chairs to wait in. Jackson arrives minutes later.
