There was a large white reception desk just inside the front door. “Good evening, we are here to see Amelia Clarke.” I always kept my distance one step back from Logan. “Ah, Mr. Carter. Of course. Miss Clarke has not arrived yet; however, we do have a room ready for her. Please follow me.” Logan smiled towards me and extended his hand to follow the officer on the desk. Taking a deep breath, I followed him to a door where he swiped a card for it to open. Looking over my shoulder, I checked constantly that Logan was one step behind me at every turn.

Ian glanced at her and spoke with a vague smile. “Aunt Claire, you deserved this. Do you know who that man is? He’s not just Nicole’s boyfriend. He’s also the only person who can go against Eric Ferguson. His name is Clayton Sloan, but not many people know about his background. Do you know how many strings my grandfather pulled to be able to invite him over?” Claire's face slowly grew pale. "What? Why didn't you say so earlier?" Mrs. Carter also looked at him in shock. "Yes, why didn't you say that sooner?"

By the time I am done here, you’ll be begging for scraps by the streets.” Clarke responded with a dark laughter. “Asshole, you want to talk about power? My name is Clarke Vann Walton. I owned this fucking country and Sterling is nothing against us. I think I do recall who you are? Didnt your dad begged my brother for some campaign money this year? I wonder... if he knows you are harassing Daniel’s future sister in law, I'm dying to know who between us will be staying in the street after this?”

Noah took the hint and signaled the hotel security. A few minutes later, the report came back. "Something happened to Mr. Clark," Noah whispered. "Explain," Cole commanded. "He was found in the washroom. Someone put a sack over his head and beat him senseless. He's unconscious with significant trauma to his face." Jane’s parents were in an uproar. If the Clark heir was assaulted at a Yoris event, it was a diplomatic nightmare. Cole, however, stayed out of it. He had secured his father’s antique and the rubies. He left.

'How? Not bothering to respond, Clarence picked up the pace, swiftly closing the distance between himself and the hunters in front of him. "SHIT!" One of the hunters hissed as Clarence plunged his claws into the man's back. "GET OFF ME YOU FUCKING MUTT!" Growling Clarence ran his paws along the length of the man's back before pulling them out. Taking advantage of the man's current helpless state, he bit down hard on his shoulder and yanked ripping the flesh.

Staring down at the bound, gagged, and now hooded figure, I get a creepy-crawly feeling all over my body. “Don’t ask questions if you don’t want the answer,” Clifton growls at me before slamming his fist into the side of the hunter’s head. I watch as the body and chair topple over to the side. A small oomph comes out of the hunter’s hood before he starts snoring. “Clif,” I say, turning to him, “get on the phones. Be discreet but ask the question around. I don’t want to spook the whole fucking world.”

Clara could not move. Her feet had rooted themselves to the earth, her body refusing to obey the screaming voice in her head that told her to run. To hide.
