Alpha Lance grumbled. Clayton nodded tightly as his eyes scanned the perimeter around him. He closed his eyes, calming himself and let his sense of hearing take over for a few minutes. He breathed in and out deeply and slowly. Out of nowhere, a growl was suddenly in the air. Clayton gripped the dagger he was holding and immediately swung it to his right, piercing the heart of the wolf that jumped towards him, killing the animal instantly.

Because there was only one clan with silver hair existing on this continent and that was either Hunter or Treyton Albrect. And he was obviously not my husband. “Treyton!” I snarled, my hands shaking in fear. He was glaring at me menacingly. His face was dark and all I could see was rage in his eyes as he stepped closer to me with a cold expression on his face. “Cassandra Clark,” he uttered condescendingly like a prince of darkness, “Did I surprise you with my new trick?” “H-How did you—”

Better yet deadly. “Try me,dipshit. My woman ask you to leave.” “And who do you think you are? I am Matthew Sterling. My family owns New York, pal. By the time I am done here, you’ll be begging for scraps by the streets.” Clarke responded with a dark laughter. “Asshole, you want to talk about power? My name is Clarke Vann Walton. I owned this fucking country and Sterling is nothing against us. I think I do recall who you are? Didnt your dad begged my brother for some campaign money this year? I wonder... if he knows you are harassing Daniel’s future sister in law, I'm dying to know who between us will be staying in the street after this?”

I snapped a photo of the grim-faced doctors and the muddy interior of the bus and hit send: [I’ve got a whole bus full of candidates. [Where are you?] he shot back. [Heading into the Clamville disaster zone. Don't know when I'll be back. If the silence gets too loud for you, go find someone else. But don't expect me to be your safety net when you're done.] My phone rang within seconds. I hesitated, then pressed it to my ear. "Are you out of your mind?" Cole’s voice wasn't just cold; it was vibrating with a primal fury I hadn't heard before. "The rain in Clamville is peaking. There are reports of secondary floods and massive mudslides. You're heading into a slaughterhouse."

'How? Not bothering to respond, Clarence picked up the pace, swiftly closing the distance between himself and the hunters in front of him. "SHIT!" One of the hunters hissed as Clarence plunged his claws into the man's back. "GET OFF ME YOU FUCKING MUTT!" Growling Clarence ran his paws along the length of the man's back before pulling them out. Taking advantage of the man's current helpless state, he bit down hard on his shoulder and yanked ripping the flesh.

Staring down at the bound, gagged, and now hooded figure, I get a creepy-crawly feeling all over my body. “Don’t ask questions if you don’t want the answer,” Clifton growls at me before slamming his fist into the side of the hunter’s head. I watch as the body and chair topple over to the side. A small oomph comes out of the hunter’s hood before he starts snoring. “Clif,” I say, turning to him, “get on the phones. Be discreet but ask the question around. I don’t want to spook the whole fucking world.”

Clara could not move. Her feet had rooted themselves to the earth, her body refusing to obey the screaming voice in her head that told her to run. To hide. To do anything except stand there and stare at the bodies scattered across the Hollow like broken dolls. Caleb stood in the center of the clearing, surrounded by at least a dozen hunters. All of them are armed. All of them were watching her. Without hesitation, Ronan's body tore into the shape of a wolf. His low, lethal snarl tore through the quiet.

My cousin, Clayton, has the most angelic and holy-looking beauty among us healers, but he is such a scary person.
