The air in the clearing curdled. The leader of the hunters laughed, a dry rattling sound behind his silver mask. "You think your parlor tricks frighten us, Demon?, This is where you will die!" He signaled with a sharp jerk of his hand. From the treeline, six more hunters emerged, not in the ceremonial robes of the Council, but in rugged, blood-stained leathers. These were the Seasoned Wolf Hunters, men who had made a career of skinning Alphas and wolves.
