"Hmm," was all I could manage. As if on cue, the long, mournful hoot of an owl echoed from the high branches above us. I shifted my gaze toward the sound, my skin crawling. "Right. An owl hooting in a place this secluded is totally normal and not at all like the opening scene of a horror movie."
