A security guard moved quickly toward me, speaking in rapid Chinese. The moment his eyes met mine, he stopped mid-sentence and straightened.
“Master John,” he said in perfect English, bowing slightly. “The head of the family would like to speak with you about a business arrangement.”
I gave a single nod. “Lead the way.”
He guided me through a series of wide corridors until we reached a room dominated by a long, polished table—generations of decisions etched into its surface. Members of the Wang family were already seated.
