It was a Christmas of firsts for both Felix and Cassie. For Felix, this was the first time that his house had ever been decorated for Christmas. In the past, he had put up a plastic miniature tree if he remembered and while Hazel had still been alive, she had put up a menorah for the December festivities. Now, the decorations started right from the gates to the mansion, with the pathway leading to the house lined with colorful reindeer figurines, giant candy canes and plastic snowmen. The house was decked in strings of flashing Christmas lights that Felix was certain would be visible from space.

It's a special moment, and they all feel a sense of connection and belonging. It's December, and Samantha and Andrew are getting ready for the holidays. They are hosting a Christmas party at their home, and they are excited to see all of their family and friends. They decorate the house with lights and ornaments, and they bake cookies and make hot chocolate. On Christmas Eve, they sit around the fireplace and read stories to their grandchildren. They feel a deep sense of joy and gratitude, knowing that they have everything they could ever want.

The only thing was we always got snowy Christmas's at least. "So this new guy." Leah finally spoke. I knew she hadn't heard a single word I said a moment ago. "His name is Knox Mikelson. He's 28 and has light brown hair. He apparently owns a hardware store in town but that is all I got from him. He was very vague." I scrunched up my face as I thought about it. Him being so vague was sending warning signals to my brain. "That names seems slightly familiar." She mused. Beside her Oliver nodding as well, looking slightly confused by the name.

Hear me out—what if we celebrated Christmas?” “We're werewolves.” “Werewolves can't have holidays?” “We have the Winter Solstice ceremony.” “Which is beautiful and traditional and involves a lot of standing still in the cold. I'm talking about Christmas. Trees, lights, presents, cookies—” “Why would we bring a tree inside?” Christian looked genuinely confused.

Sophie stood in the middle wearing reindeer antlers and the biggest smile. "There you are! Dad's getting the tree. We have so much to do." The front door opened and Derek and Jason carried in the biggest Christmas tree I'd ever seen. Derek's eyes found mine across the room and held for just a second. Long enough that my coffee mug suddenly felt too hot. "Morning, Maya," he said, voice still rough. "Morning."

Walking out of the chapel just after concluding her penance, with strong hopes that this sacrament of reconciliation will bring good tidings to her. One soft click. The picture came out tasteful but teasing, enough to make him grin. She smiled, selected Darren’s name, hit send. Then tossed her phone onto the bed and poured herself a glass of cheap red wine. Next week, she'd have her bags packed, ready to head to Maysville, the small town she'd grown up in for Christmas. Her holiday plan was just perfect! Her playlist hummed to life; jazzy, lazy Christmas tunes filling the air. For the first time all day, her shoulders relaxed. She even started humming along, thinking about what tomorrow morning would look like. Morning pancakes, bad movies, Darren’s laugh…
