“What if she’s right about one thing?” Both our heads snapped toward him. My heart lurched. “What do you mean?” His hands fidgeted in his lap, his eyes refusing to meet mine. “She said we’ll bring bad luck. That… that I’m cursed. People talk, even if they don’t say it around me. They whisper when they think I can’t hear.” He swallowed hard. “What if they’re right?”

"But I do know that I can't be with you." "Why not?" he demanded. I hesitated, unsure of how to explain. "I'm cursed," I said finally. "Anyone who gets too close to me ends up suffering. It's not safe for you to be with me." He scoffed at me. "Cursed? That's ridiculous. I don't believe in curses." "It's not just a superstition," I said, my voice shaking. "It's real. Everyone I've ever cared about has suffered because of me. I can't let that happen to you too."

Being the selfish bitch that I am, I let Liam take over and allowed him suffer in his hands. The only reason he ended up like that is because of me. If I was never mated to him, he wouldn't have died so painfully. Everyone that gets close to me ends up suffering in unimaginable pain, like Jenny. I'm cursed ! I shouldn’t be close to others, I'll jinx them! Even Marcus... he'll end up suffering because of me. I buried my head in my legs as I sobbed softly. Why does my life have to be like this? Explain why since the day you came into my life things I never thought I'd be dealing with I have to deal with!" "I have nothing to do with your luck!" "Of course, you don't bring bad luck, you, just as you are, are a curse," he spat filled with absurd resentment. "Oh, I'm a curse?" I repeated getting my brain to process what he just said. "A curse," he growled.

He doesn't know me enough to realize I'm actually okay with whatever bad thing that happens to me. "You're my mate, so I guess you should know this..." I mumble, Justin gives me a very stressed out look, "I'm cursed." "What?" He asks, face all scrunched up, "What do you mean? By a witch or something?" I laugh. "No, just by life. I'm a bad luck magnet. Everything that could possibly go wrong... it will one hundred percent go wrong for me," I let him know. He looks dumbfounded, "So we say I'm cursed, it's just a funny little thing.”

He likes to act tough and argue, but in the end, he always gives us whatever we want. The only exception to that is if he feels like it’s too dangerous. Which apparently is everything I want to do outside of our pack or the surrounding towns. I know that I’m different. On my first birthday, the moon goddess blessed me with a unique mark on my right hip. No one knows exactly what it means. Some people think it’s a prophecy mark, and that I’m destined for some kind of greatness. Other people think the mark and my powers are a blessing for my family’s role in taking down an evil pack.

Those years of waiting for his arrival never seem to end. It’s been five years now. The alpha is yet to be found, neither could Imogen find a way to lift the curse nor did she forget how Braylon was swallowed by a dark shadow right in front of her eyes.
