A gentle hand taps me, jerking me awake.

This is an apology note to all of you who had been reading this book. I am sorry for not being able to update chapters frequently and make you all wait for so long. I don't want to provide any excuses because you all have been so kind and supportive, so it makes me feel terrible to not give updates frequently. But I want to be honest with you all and the reality is that I am having extreme mental breakdowns lately that is causing me to self sabotage, leading to constantly question whether I am writing well enough or not. As you can all see, the story is coming to an end and I want the conclusion to be well written and not seem like its rushed.

Brooklyn said, sitting at the table where her laptop and notebook sat. Kendall pulled out a chair and sat down. “What’s up?” Brooklyn asked, shutting her laptop. “I did a reading today,” Kendall said, taking out her notebook, “and it’s got me a little worried.” Frowning, Brooklyn said, “What did the cards say?” Opening her notebook, Kendall looked at her notes. “It’s saying something about heartbreak, danger, and loss,” she said. Shea paused in her chopping to say, “That doesn’t sound good.”

Walking out of the bathroom, I dressed and tied my hair into a messy bun. Sitting on my bed, I picked up the only book Darius had left me. Of all things, it was a geography book—a cruel irony in his claims not to let me die of boredom. I flipped through the pages, trying to focus on the text, but my mind wandered. The stark white pages were a contrast to the dark, suffocating thoughts in my head. Each page turned was a reminder of my confinement, the walls closing in on me.
