"You will remain here." The streets below were home only to ghosts and shadows now. The people were cowering in whatever safe haven they could find, whether it be the claustrophobic aisles of a department store or the dark back room of an office. Anywhere was better than the bubbling mire outside. The heat from the burning blood would not affect the deity who once walked in his own volcanic Eden. Nor did it affect the creatures he crafted but it certainly made their way more taxing. Isaac watched as a soft haze encapsulated the God's body and slowly, he began to fade, glowing translucent and glorious.

I have now come to the end of book one of my Cursed by the gods series. It has been a long journey I'm not gonna lie. I lost commitment along the way of writing this book, lost inspiration, even changed the plan I initially had for it. I am really glad that I got to finish it and if you stayed till the end I just want to say thank you for even choosing this book in the first place. I will start with the second book as soon as possible and do my best to make that one better. Another man stepped out, opened the door for him, and the god got inside. Then they drove away. I stopped running. My chest rose and fell unevenly as confusion settled in. Did I just survive? Was I allowed to leave? No. That didn’t make sense after everything he said. There had to be a trap waiting ahead. And just as the thought crossed my mind, a violent gust of wind slammed into me. The world blurred. Suddenly, I was standing in front of a massive Victorian-style mansion. Beautiful enough to steal my breath. Except something else was stealing my breath, my neck was trapped in the god’s hand.

My back was against the door of my room, and all the cruel memories of the past once again started haunting me. “I am sorry, V-vera. I didn’t mean to disrespect you. I was just… sh*t! I am an idiot.” He kicked something and cursed under his breath, but I didn’t open the door. Why the f*ck is Moon Goddess playing this cruel game with me? I was already on the verge of death, and now, all my childhood is present here to witness how I fall into my death pit in one of the games. F*ck! I don’t know why all this is happening to me… I have such a sh*tluck.

So for now it seemed like I was at his mercy. Climbing up off the floor, I leave my towel deserted on the ground opting to get dressed instead. I pull a pair of black lace underwear from my dresser, slipping them on before collecting a t-shirt and doing the same. Deciding I’m too tired to dry my hair, I opt to let it air dry and head over to the light switch, flipping the light off before climbing into my bed. Closing my eyes, I focus on my breathing, praying that tonight I dreamt of a dark haired, tattooed God instead of my usual night terrors. With the image of my sexy new Shadow god painted in my head, I slowly drifted to sleep.

And this time, I wasn't going to play by the rules of the draft. I hit the ground. It was dirt. It smelled like rain and oil. I stood up and looked around. I was in a room I didn't know, holding a gun I didn't recognize. A man stepped out from the shadows. "You are early," he said. It was the Publisher. He looked young, healthy, and evil. "We haven't even started chapter one yet." I looked at him and smiled. It was the deadliest smile I had. "Then let's skip to the end," I said.

Someone finally couldn't handle the sight anymore and stumbled aside to throw up, while another broke into panicked, helpless sobs. My hands trembled slightly, and my face was deathly pale. I was one of the calmer ones, but there was no denying that I was just a high school student. It all started yesterday, during our class trip. The bus plunged over a cliff, and we woke up to find ourselves here. A system appeared before us. It told us we were dead and that clearing this game, The Tyrant's Atonement, was our only way back. It was a game where we could choose our roles.
