Mark's hand shook against the floor, his whole body tight like he wanted to block every word out. Mandy crouched low, red-eyed and bitter. "You wanna know her biggest wish now? "She said nothing matters anymore. All she wants is to divorce you and vanish from your world forever." Mark's eyes snapped open, disbelief crashing over him. Mandy stared straight through him, her voice like ice. "Mark Fletcher. Mister Powerful. Then tell me—why?" His head throbbed like it was cracking open. Cold seeped through him, and he couldn't stop shaking.

Miracle rattled the slips, checking if there were any secret papers hidden in between. But there was none. The second half of the story was gone. "C'mon... Don't do this to me. I have to know the story." Miracle pressed her fingers to her lips, murmuring lines of undefinable words that echoed softly in the dimly lit room. As she chanted, a gentle swirl of white light unfurled from her fingertips, enveloping her hand in a shimmering embrace. Silvery tendrils of smoke swirled into the room, weaving in response to her invocation. They laid atop her mark of divinity on her chest, and seconds later, the bulging veins around her reddening mark began to ease.

Cain doesn’t answer and this is enough to tell me that he doesn’t have a positive answer anyway. I turn my head back towards the window, negative thoughts resurfacing in my mind. What now? That’s the most dangerous thought in my mind in this moment. “ Can’t we tell her a lie? ” I mumble under my breath, sounding like an idiot to even myself. “ She is the secret keeper, Miracle. She can tell what’s a truth and what’s a lie. ” He replies calmly, instead of telling me that I am acting like a stupid woman right now.

Instead of it shattering as it did in the previous nightmare, it cracked and maintained a cracked screen, which also mysteriously occured on the faces of the other eleven mirrors, as if the one in front of me was a master copy, while the other eleven served as an imagery copy, but they all looked so real to me. I became drenched with terror, but definitely not as scared as what was about to happen next, it was one of the most frightening scenes I had ever seen. All the twelve mirrors, at the same time, began gushing out blood from their cracked faces. He works for a devil after all. “Girl,” Harper breathed, stepping into Mirabella’s space, “that is not a current you want to swim against. You should go.” “I’m not swimming,” Mirabella said, her throat dry. “I’m working.” Rain nudged her shoulder. “He’s not used to being told to wait.”

Nothing could ever come closer to redeeming me if anything happened to her. Tears blurred my eyesight, and while my mind swirled with a million and one thoughts, just one stood out the most. What if a miracle happened? I fell flat on my face immediately. I wasn't exactly the overly religious person, but right now, I wouldn't mind a miracle. In fact, that was the only thing that could save Liana right now. “Please, moon goddess.” I yelled amidst tears. “I haven't been a faithful follower, and I haven't had a reason to believe that miracles do exist. Please, do this for me. Make Liana better, please.”

It felt like a miracle, despite the conflicting emotions swirling within me. Lost in my thoughts, I was interrupted as Charles reentered the office, holding out a document. "Boss, no need to retrieve another document. You tore the photocopy; this is the original," he informed me. Snapping out of my contemplation, I eagerly accepted the document, needing to confirm its authenticity for myself. As I examined it, relief hit me. I bring my knees to my chest, placing my head on it as I cried out. My heart ached badly. The pain is agonizing. I don't want to think about not seeing East again. God don't let him die.
