I have never seen such a hot summer. The heat fills me all over until my body practically melts. The sun is shining so brightly that it almost obscures the summer blue sky. The air is clear, as only in summer it can be. The colours shine around me. They make me feel as if the moment of ripening and blossoming has arrived, we are in the full bloom of nature and I am here abandoned and alone.

Yet somehow… my mind still drifted toward a stubborn eighteen-year-old girl with pink bandages and reckless eyes. Ava. Even after three days away from her, she still found a way into my thoughts like she belonged there. And that was the real problem. I exhaled sharply and grabbed the whiskey bottle from the table, pouring another glass. Outside, Pasadena glittered beneath the night sky. Beautiful. But inside the hotel suite, I already knew the truth. This summer was becoming dangerous in ways I never expected.

It was a beautiful summer day in August. Everything shone in the most beautiful and strongest colors I had ever seen. It smelled wonderfully of flowers. The sky was as blue as the sea. Just beautiful. You couldn't see a single cloud on the horizon. The trees provided shade that protected you from the sun, which almost burned your skin like fire.

I got out of the tent and felt the bright sunlight hitting my eyes. Upon this first day of summer I felt as if I opened a book, yet instead of words to greet my eyes, the pages rendered a soft and warming light. Cindy and Jake had matched bikini and shorts and i couldn't help but smirk so big. The first day of summer comes as a brilliant smile radiated from the heavens, one my soul returns on reflex. Jake was holding a medium sized Bluetooth radio with a collection of favorite hit songs.

Bethany's expression froze, the joy in her eyes vanishing as sheer panic took its place. The terror she felt was laid bare in front of Mitchell, and in that moment, it looked almost comical. Though it was the height of summer, Bethany felt a chill crawl over her skin, a chill that had nothing to do with the weather. She had already experienced the madness that Mitchell could descend into for Heather's sake, twice now, and the fear of reliving it a third time made her stomach turn.

ISABELLE’S POV “Lily, where are you? Lily? I am tired now” I call lily as I enter the farm. Warm wind collides my body and I feel hotter. It is so much hot today. The sun is blazing. It seems like fire is reaching the earth in the form of sunlight. Why summers are so hot? I hate summers. I am now angry at myself. Why did I even agree to play with Lily on this hot day? Now I am all sweaty.

We would have to wait and see. Freya still had not returned, and I wondered what was taking her so damn long. I thought about texting her, but I figured she was a big girl and could do things on her own. She woke me up this morning, so fuck her for the moment. “Large Blood Moon,” a barista called. I raised my hand and grabbed it. I made my way to the patio. It was a beautiful day, so I wanted to enjoy the sun on my skin. Summer was my favorite season because it meant I got to spend most of my time outside in the sun.
