He observed me carefully. I hesitated, unsure of how to reveal the truth. But I knew I had just this chance or let it flop for life. "I've got a problem, Jasper," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I've been addicted to drugs for a while now." Jasper's expression didn't change, but I could see a flicker of surprise in his eyes. "How long?" he asked, his voice calm.

ETHAN BlACKWOOD POV "What do you mean you can't get me more drugs!" I thundered, my eyes boring into Gustavo's beedy ones. He spread his hand. "Exactly what it means, Ethan. Do you have any idea what troubles I could get into with the hospital? Those drugs are regulated, and I already gave you enough to last you for the whole month, and now you're asking for more just after a few days. If I give you any more I am going to get caught, or do you think that the hospital wouldn't notice the discrepancy when they check the inventory"
