There's an awkward silence in the room, and I'm starting to feel very uneasy.

The voice sliced through the darkness, smooth and mocking. "Oh, it's far from over." I twisted, or rather the space around me did, and there he was: the shadow man. His red eyes shone like dying stars, and his presence felt like a cold sword across my spine. He was not alone. The golden-eyed lady emerged from the cloud, her sneer sharper than before.

You gonna guilt-trip me or something?” The shadow tilted its head, its eyes glinting with malice. “You hide behind your jokes, but you know the truth, don’t you? You’re afraid. Afraid that when it matters, you’ll fail. That you’ll be nothing more than a coward.” Jamie’s bravado faltered, his grip on the skateboard tightening. “Shut up,” he said, his voice low. “You don’t know me.” The shadow stepped closer, its presence suffocating. “I am you. His face was mostly covered by his hood, his eyes dark and unreadable maybe he just came back from a fight or something. “Uh… hi?” I said like a dumbass that I am. He didn’t look up. “You’re the kid who beat Natalya.” “…Wow. News travels fast.” now everybody calls me kid great. He looked up finally, those eyes pinning me like I was some new toy. “They call me Shadow,” he said, voice low. “You snore, I break your nose. You touch my blade, I slice your fingers.
