Selene’s POV I was working on pairing mates for some of my children in the Philippines when I heard someone calling me. “Mother, MOTHER COME QUICK!” One of my wolves was hollering for me. I stopped what I was doing and rushed to the fountain where she was standing. When I looked into it I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Koa and the King were going at it and she was about to kill him. “No not yet! She can’t….” I turned around and headed for my portal to earth.

I climb into the back of my waiting limousine, my body aching with a beautiful, heavy pain. I look in the vanity mirror. My eyes are the same, but the woman looking back is a stranger. I touch my neck, feeling the ghost pressure of the Guard’s hand. I taste the Priest’s sandalwood on my lips. I feel the Judge’s weight in my bones. The Ice Queen is going back to her palace. But she is leaving her heart on the altar of the sanctum. And I know, as I watch the city fly by, that I will not be waiting for the next gala.

I heard the snap of my laptop shutting. "I’m leaving out that door right now," he said through gritted teeth, "and I don’t want to reach the dressing room before you do." So, here I was at the center of the ice, the gear on me smelling unmistakably like Tristan. The restless murmurs rippling through the crowd only heightened my unease. I looked up and found Leo and Jade huddled close. Jade was pretending to scream into a microphone, "Up for Sharks, up for Myles!" while Leo frantically tried to shut her up.

He whispers out. I felt like it is calling me” she said and the queen had a victorious smile on her face. “what did you see, dear?” “I saw a dessert, a mountain, a water falls that looked like falling from heaven and the book was floating inside a cave” she said with a puzzle face. The queen looked back at her son, who nodded his head.

"I thought you were dead in some English ditch!" Caleb groaned as she squeezed him, a rare, genuine wince of pain crossing his face. "Lenochka... can't... breathe." She dropped him, laughing, a loud, raucous sound that filled the cramped hallway. Her eyes, the same piercing silver as Caleb’s, landed on me. She looked me up and down, her gaze lingering on my silk robe peeking out from under the wool. "And this must be the Ice Queen," she said, her grin widening to reveal a chipped front tooth. "The one who made my brother leave and never came back."
