I almost mirrored him until Ivy lifted her head.
I exhaled sharply, grounding myself before I turned toward Ivy.
She still hadn’t moved. She stood in the echo of the altar, arms crossed over her chest, chin tilted downward. But her body vibrated with tension.
“Ivy,” I said softly.
That broke her.
Her head snapped up, eyes locking with mine, and for a heartbeat, just one flicker in the wavering light, I saw it.
Violet.
Not her usual warm brown or the wolf’s amber. But violet fire, glowing from deep within her irises before fading back into mortal color.
