If He Had Been With Me Novels & Stories

There was only one real option left that moved at the speed of four days. I did not say his name out loud yet. I sat beside the bed, took Leigh’s warm fingers in mine, and stared at the rise and fall of her chest while the list of friends who could not help burned itself into something final behind my eyes. When I stood up again, Maya watched me without stopping me. She already knew where I was going.

And God help me, I knew he was right. And the scariest part? I already was. I already had been for longer than I could remember.

I added playfully, but I was surprised when he immediately hugged me tightly. "If I could take you with me, I would, so you wouldn't have to worry about that," he said, hugging me even tighter.

I said softly. He stood beside me, close enough that our shoulders touched. “Whatever happens,” he said, “I won’t let you face it alone.”

You're nothing without me! He had a fair point. I didn’t have anything without him, but something told me I would be way better of that way.

"You had options, you could've gone with anyone. But you chose to stay. I knew with you or without you, I'd have lived and be taken care of well enough." "But it wouldn't work," he said. "Why?" "Because you are the one I wanted to go with."

I asked mustering up a smile. "Because you were taken right after I left."he replied. "If only I hadn't left.If only I had been here when..then maybe you wouldn't have been taken"he said. "But you would be dead. And that's not what I want either."I told him.

"It's no big deal. I'll be on my way to the training ground.," "Can I come with you? There's absolutely nothing that I'm doing here," "Sure," If I had known, I wouldn't have followed him that fateful day.

They were probably disappointed to find I hid the fact we were mates. "Can they provide the answer?" "I hope. Or at least, they can give us direction." Yeah. It was frustrating when peculiar things happened. Something rarely or maybe never occurred. "Can I go with you?" "Sure. I can't leave you here, anyway. Remember. We must stick with each other." I chuckled at his words. There was nothing wrong with it as it was true. We couldn't be separated. But the way he spoke the phrase stick was funny. It sounded like he was making a joke of it.

Being with him has been through ups and downs, but so far, I did not regret anything that’s ever happened to me. Because I know that Kai is going to be by my side no matter what and that alone is enough for me.
