If Your Mother Only Knew Novels & Stories

Mom remained frozen for a full five seconds before letting out her second shriek of the day, this one more anguished than the one she'd let out on the field. She finally got the whole picture. I wasn't just "stubbornly digging my heels in". In the last few minutes of my life, I'd used all the strength I could muster to write a final message to her. But she'd been too busy teaching the class to see what was happening less than 250 feet away, separated by only a wall and some windows. Mom slid off the chair, falling onto her knees. Her head even banged against the concrete floor. "Julia… I had no idea… I swear I didn't know… You came back… You came back but… I didn't hear you… I was the one wh

Mother's Advice “I feel like I am always alone in this world. As if I am thirsty and looking for their love. I really miss them. If they were just alive, maybe I would be the happiest woman in the world. But no. It was so hard to trust someone. Because the people who were my parents disappointed me and left me... Then here you are now. All people around me thought— I was brave, that I was brave as always. But what you just don’t know, I’m very weak. I'm just trying to be steady. Because I don't want to get hurt and just always cry.”

“Even with everything. Even with the ways she failed me. She was still my mother and I loved her. I never got to tell her I was sorry for any of it.” “She knew” Camille said softly. “Mothers always know even when we don’t say it perfectly.”

My mother says. "Do you know how long I have been looking for her? Did she send you here to tell me to leave her alone?" I ask. "No, I do not know how long you have searched for her. If you had done a better job, you would have known she was in New York all the bloody time. No, Mia does not even know I am here," My mother says. I must count to ten and remind myself my mother is old and I can not shout at her. I love her, but sometimes she is a mean old lady that likes to see me suffer.

“Your mother was the greatest woman I have ever known.” He could have fooled me about his opinion while she was still alive, but then again I was so young that my memories might well be warped. I leaned forward, having to admit to myself that I was eager to hear more about my mom.

"Your mommy doesn't want you anymore. Once she found out you weren't hers, she left you!" Luther's piercing eyes were trained on Ivana. He stared daggers at her and gripped her throat once more. "What do you mean? What nonsense are you spouting now?"

I just took a long pull of her scent and closed my eyes. “Yes,” she said. “It is the last morning,” said her mother. “I know.” “It is time to return.” “…” “Ela, it is not that simple.” “Is it?” “You are young, there are still so many things you do not know.” “I know.” “No, you do not. You don’t know the door you’re about to open,” her mother said. “There are doors that once opened, can’t be closed.” “I know.” “No, you do not. You think you know. You are feeling really intense things right now. Things that don’t delve in the land of reason. Overwhelming things that can lead you where you never thought you would.”

I don’t know who made this bullshit about mates being perfect for each other, because a woman like my mother deserves much better than him. My mother had scoffed at my father when he asked me to be mindful of my ambitions, “She’s my daughter, darling mate of mine, of course, she’s ambitious,” Then she’d tucked me to her side and kissed my head, “That’s why I know she’s going to go to places when she gets older.”

He said you'll come back when you recover your memories, but you no longer want me even though you remember me! He continued, "Granny told me that Mommy had a hard time when you were having me. I was being too naughty back then, I even made you angry countless times." I looked down at Julian and said, "Never wait until you lose something to realize its value, Juli." He tearfully hugged my legs and asked, "Did I lose you already, Mommy?" I replied, "This is the last lesson I will give you as your mother. I hope you never speak harshly to those you love or who love you. You have to learn to respect others, and they'll respect you in return. People leave when they're hurt."

By then, I'd become a professional—a mother who could stand on her own and support Luca through my own hard work. Challenges hadn't broken me before, and they wouldn't now. In time, we'd find the answers we needed.
