My eyes started to feel heavy and before I knew it I was drifting into the darkness. I was dreaming of walking through a clearing in the woods it reminded me of the clearing where Dragus and I sat, the moon was high in the sky and the light illuminating the grass around me. I came to a stop in the middle of the clearing standing there staring up at the sky the stars twinkled and the moon glowing.

Instead of soft sheets or the warmth of Kael’s body beside me, my fingers brushed against rough soil and scattered leaves. Confusion stirred through my mind. Slowly, I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was the sky. A vast dark sky stretched endlessly above me, scattered with stars that shimmered faintly around a massive glowing moon. The moonlight was brighter than I had ever seen it before, bathing everything in a pale silver glow. I sat up slowly. My heart began to beat faster as I realized I wasn’t in the pack house. Chapter 36: The Blood Pact Dawn came without warmth. I woke before the others, the letter still pressed against my chest. The embers of the fire glowed weakly, casting faint shadows across the sleeping forms of the prisoners. The air was cold, sharp, carrying the scent of frost and distant smoke. The clearing is glowing. Not a little. The entire place shines like someone poured liquid moonlight over the ground. The huge Moon Tree stands in the center with its white bark glowing softly and silver light pours down through the branches from the full moon above.

My legs gave out from underneath me, I tried to brace myself for impact against the ground, but instead my weak body was pulled into strong arms.
