--- Chapter Ten: The Weight of Power Aria stood frozen at the center of the clearing, her chest rising and falling in quick, shallow breaths. The wind had stilled. The trees no longer rustled. The entire forest had gone silent in the wake of her outburst. The crimson light of the Blood Moon bathed her glowing skin in a surreal hue, making her look otherworldly. And maybe she was.

Bathed in gentle silver light that filtered through the skeleton limbs of the trees and dripped down from the moon, the Moonlit Clearing was a place of adoration. In the chilly night air, Iris's breath formed misty clouds as she walked cautiously across the grass. She moved forward as the mark on her wrist burned slightly. She gazed at the faint radiance above and muttered, "Moon Goddess." "I need answers, please." At first, she was met by a deep quiet that made her skin tingle. Then a man appeared out of the shadows, leaking into the clearing like a shadow. The black-cloaked figure's eyes burned like twin embers, and the edges of her body frayed like smoke.

There’s a decent gap between them. “Give me your hand,” Rathi hesitantly gives her hand and looks at her husband. “Lie down,” “Are you going to cast a spell on me?” “I am going to show you what you want,” “What I want?” “Close your eyes then you will see it,” Trusting his words, she closed her eyes. For some time, all she can she was the darkness and the warmth of his hands. He asked her not to speak a word, she stayed calm being in that darkness. Then Rathi saw a faint brightness at the far end which seemed impossible to reach. But she was dragged there and suddenly thousands and millions of sparks showered all over her and it’s so hard to see.

The air here was different—cooler, thicker, and laced with a faint scent of pine and something metallic that set my teeth on edge. The clearing wasn’t far, Astra had said, but it felt like the trail stretched endlessly into darkness. I kept moving, the journal tucked under my arm and my flashlight cutting through the shadows. Every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig made me jump, my heart hammering against my ribs. “You’re being ridiculous,” I whispered to myself. “It’s just the woods. “Put this on. We’re going into the forest.” I wrapped the cloak around myself and followed him down the stairs and out into the night. The pack house was quiet. Most of the wolves were either sleeping or out on patrol. The full moon hung huge and bright in the sky. Its sight made something ache in my chest—like homesickness for a place I had never been. Kade led me deep into the forest, to a clearing I hadn’t seen before. Moonlight poured down like liquid silver, making everything glow. In the center of the clearing lay a flat stone that looked as though it had been placed there deliberately.
