Jade showered and then crawled into bed. On the last day of their vacation, they spent the morning in their separate beds, watching television and munching on ala cart items from room service. The weather forecast had predicted possible scattered showers throughout the day, and they were unfortunately correct. From her position in the bed, she could see overcast skies and the tops of palm trees flapping in the strong breeze. There was a storm coming. Jade didn't mind having a lazy day. She thought she could probably use a break from the strong sun. Her shoulders were already raw to the touch, and aloe vera did little to help.

"So, you turn this display on, and it has all these settings. This one makes it hot; this one makes the lights go on; this one makes the sunshower turn on, this is..." I didn’t know what the fuck he was saying. A sunshower? What the fuck is that? And why do you need extra lights in the shower? Or is it to dim the lights? "So, you want to try it?" Storm asked and I nodded. "Sure…" Fuck. I didn’t remember anything passed how to turn on the display.

The weather today seemed strangely better, with the sunset beginning to cast its fading glow, illuminating the horizon. It must have been because it had rained last night—enough to grant a break to the lands. Even though the sun's rays didn’t break through the window fully and weren’t warm, Sherry could still feel the heat just by the light touching her skin. It had been so long since she had seen sunlight, and an unconscious smile crept onto her lips. She turned her face toward the window, her eyes closed, savoring the fleeting warmth.

We clink our glasses, the sunlight catching the liquid inside, casting a rainbow of colors on the surface of the water. Sabrina takes a sip of her drink, sighing contentedly. "Okay, I have to admit, this is the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon." Michal raises his glass in agreement. "Cheers to spontaneous fun and unexpected pool showers!" I nod, watching as the sun begins its slow descent, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and gold. There's a cozy silence shared between the four of us, an understanding that these quirky, laughter-filled moments define true friendship.

Chapter 1 little-angel POV. The funeral of the alpha of the Moonlit Claws pack had ended just a few days before. Life was slowly trickling back to normal, the hush of grief giving way to the anticipation of the upcoming ceremony. "The Shadowboom Unveiling", that sacred rite where the Moongoddess would designate the new alpha and show us our mates for under 18. I was joined by two of my childhood friends, Sunshine and Sunrise, as we made our way towards the apple groves .

I didn’t bother with an umbrella; it was a bit hot, but I felt lighter than I had in years. Even the darkest places eventually see the light.

"My son isn't dead. He was just abroad getting treatment. I have no idea who started those rumors..." Watching her lie without a trace of shame, I laughed out loud. She was the one who sent me overseas. She was the one who told everyone I was dead. She transferred my inheritance, my shares—everything—into Jake's name. She left me with nothing. My mother shot me a warning glare. And then the screen lit up. Photos and videos started playing one after another. Every single one showed what I'd been through. Electroshock. Medication. Bright white lamps shining in my eyes, trying to make me forget Emily.

Her tears dried on her face as the sea breeze blew. "I'll live well from now onward, Jo," she said, facing the sea. "And on your behalf as well." As the sun set, her figure gradually disappeared into the distance, and my soul finally walked toward that warm light in the sky.
