“You have to open your eyes. You can’t leave me, do you hear me? Not now. Not after everything.”
A groan escapes Adrianna’s lips—weak, fragile, but alive. Her eyelids flutter, barely opening. Her eyes—those soft, familiar eyes—struggle to focus on him.
“L…Lance?”
The sound of his name on her tongue shatters him. His chest caves, his tears spilling freely now. “I’m here. I’m right here.”
She coughs weakly, her hand twitching toward him. He grabs it, clutching it to his chest, feeling her warmth, fragile and slipping through his fingers.
