Seduced by Darkness

Seduced by Darkness

The oak tree, a silent witness to the tragedy, seemed to bow in mourning, its branches rustling like whispered condolences. As the ceremony concluded and the villagers dispersed, the family remained, their grief too profound to bear alone. James, Isabella, and Cassia stood together by the oak tree, their pain an unspoken bond that connected them in this profound moment of loss. In the days that followed the burial of young Alex, the family's home in Cedarbrook felt emptier than ever before. The weight of their loss pressed upon them like a relentless storm, and each day seemed a relentless battle against the gaping void left by their beloved son and brother.

The Blood Moon Ascendance

The Blood Moon Ascendance

Amelia's POV As I made my way through the forest, the familiar sight of the towering oak tree greeted me like an old friend. Its gnarled branches reached out to me, casting dappled shadows upon the forest floor as if beckoning me closer. With each step, the soft crunch of leaves beneath my feet echoed through the tranquil air, a comforting melody that soothed my restless soul. The canopy above filtered the sunlight into a dappled mosaic of light and shadow, casting a sense of enchantment over the secluded grove where the ancient oak stood sentinel.

CRIMSON SKY

CRIMSON SKY

Iditan added. Still captivated by the unusual soft countenance on Iditan’s face, I reclined back against the Oak tree which seemed not to posses the hardness of a normal tree, waiting for her to tell the story. The trunk of the tree was soft and comfortable, adding to the serenity. “Iditan…” I called softly as she took her time, curiosity to know more about this protector Oak tree which could seemingly make one at ease and free of worries getting the best of me.

A Queen Among Alphas

A Queen Among Alphas

I turn my face to the side and inhale through my nose when I feel the object whiz past me again. Quercus garryana, also known as Oregon white oak. Logs, I have to dodge freakin’ logs. Is this an obstacle course or an Indiana Jones booby trap? If I stand up I’m going to get knocked into the lake by one of these swinging logs, so I decide to combat crawl across the log. As I move along the length of the log the scent of paint wafts into my nose. It’s close, like really close, but there’s another scent the paint is masking. I take a long whiff and recoil as the smell burns my nostrils.

Blood Bound

Blood Bound

>Yohan I somehow made it to the forest and managed to drag myself to the biggest oak tree there was in the place. I had to walk a lot but as soon as I reached it I got some relief. The tree wasn’t just any normal tree. It was a dryad. In other words, a tree spirit. In big forests there is always one dryad which is also the gateway to the magical realm. The Dryad was old, about 900 years and had large branches spreading around it in every direction with thick bark. I walked up to it and laid against it as Dryad began to identify me. As it incurred that I was not human and was injured it decided to provide some support.

Song of the Winter Solstice

Song of the Winter Solstice

I made my approach slowly towards the nearest tree in the open. My heart stopped for what seemed like forever. The wind rustled the thick grass. Drops of sweat are tracing my forehead. I was within striking distance of the tree now. Not too far away, I could also make out the other tower that needs protecting. I must get there without being caught or ensnared. I got in a hurry and started to creep up the tree. While making my way to the tree, I am slashed by the sharp edges of some tall grass. Then... I ducked for cover under a shady oak tree like a seasoned outdoorsman. It has a superb canopy and is a mature tree. Green and woodsy aromas fill the air.

She is My Hope

She is My Hope

I smile and refocus on the path in front of me. I quickly arrive in front of a large oak tree and, using momentum, I start climbing it until I reach the uppermost branches. I look down and see some shadows moving natural ones. I took a deep breath and started to focus my energy, imagining it dissipating, starting to stick to the branches and leaves of the oak.

Pregnant and Jailed: Revenge on my Quadruplet’s Father

But I just shrug it off. “Daddy, what’s that huge tree?” Andre voice draws Carlton’s Attention from me. All eyes trails where he’s pointing at and there’s gigantic tree at a far end of the forest. Even as we are standing up on a wooden bridge it’s still so tall and has its branch sprouting out everywhere. The tree is so magnificent and would really get anyone bedazzled. The oak tree. “That’s the oak tree.” Carlton says and someone squeals beside Andre. Griffin. Then with his eyes widen in amazement he exclaims, “The royal tree of the forest!”
