He couldn’t understand what had driven April to leave, to abandon him without a word. His thoughts were a chaotic mess of anger, confusion, and a strange sense of loss that he couldn’t shake. The door creaked open, and Nurse Clara stepped in, her expression hesitant as she approached him. “Lucifer,” she began cautiously, “there’s something you need to know.”

“I’m sorry, ma'am. He called me at 6 am to…” “That wasn't so hard now, was it?” I smiled. Lachlan, that arsehole. “I'm sorry, ma'am.” Clara apologised like it was her fault when it wasn't. “It's…” I trailed my eyes forward and caught sight of something interesting. On one of the overpriced flat-screen TVs was a commercial of Cassandra advertising a beauty product. “Clara?” I asked, not taking my eyes off the screen. “Yes, ma'am?” She asked quietly.

“I know what you’re thinking. Evander is not that stupid.” Wait, Evander? As in her Evander?! Clara pressed her ears harder against the desk, straining to hear more. If she was caught at this point, she didn’t care, she was too far gone at this point. She couldn’t have heard that right, right? Had to be another Evander, not hers. Hers knew nothing about any supernatural nonsense and most of all would never sign to a unison with someone even these two didn’t trust. Her Evander was sweet, thoughtful and definitely was no side dude to any bimbo!

Then. He paused for a moment, then continued, "The first chalice is probably still in their hands. Do you know what the consequences will be?" Chaz came closer to me. "The witches will can't be burned by fire! The first chalice is a fire-proof chalice. If that happens, we won't be able to kill them by burning them." Chaz looked away and turned around. I could see that he was worried. Of course, all the Hunters would panic hearing it.

Clare stood up and stepped back. “Don't let them get close; kill them, if necessary,” Clare ordered me, and I turned to smile at her. “I think you fell into my trap,” I said fearlessly. Clare's expression was one of complete horror.

Clifford faltered. He'd been so focused on going after Seraphine that he'd forgotten about Clarissa. He turned to look at her tenderly. At the same time, he couldn't help forming a sliver of doubt over her kindness. After all, she'd sent Andrea those taunting texts, resulting in the latter dying from a heart attack. He said, "I need to speak to Seraphine about something, Clary. Your guess is probably right—she should know about the core technology."

She opened it to find a cloaked figure standing in the shadows. “Who are you?” she demanded, her hand instinctively reaching for the dagger at her side. The figure lowered their hood, revealing a woman with striking silver hair and piercing blue eyes. “My name is Seraphine,” she said, her voice calm but commanding. “I’m a Keeper of Balance, and I’ve come for the relics.” Clara’s heart raced. “A Keeper? Why now?” “Because their power is not meant for mortals,” Seraphine explained. “They are tools of balance, and their presence here will only invite more chaos.”

Damon said under his breath. “I had to,” Lucian replied. “He watches everything.” “You should have told me.” “I was afraid you would not let me.” Damon almost laughed. Even now, they were the same. Sera cried out, “Where is she?” Cassian raised a small silver device in his hand. “The Third Chamber is open.” Damon’s blood ran cold. “You said it activated on its own,” Damon said. Cassian’s eyes gleamed. “It did. I simply guided it.”

“Please, find me.” The shadows around her shifted, their whispers slithering into her ears. “He cannot follow… He cannot save you… You are ours…” Clara pressed her hands against her ears, shutting her eyes. “No. No, he will come. He will never abandon me.” The creatures laughed—a hollow, bone-chilling sound. But before they could close in, the abyss trembled. The ground cracked, and from the fissures rose a river of black flame. It coiled around Clara, not burning her flesh, but locking her in place.
